Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Oracle returned a smaller share of operating cash to investors in the first three quarters of 2026, as capital spending outpaced cash generation. The five companies distributed $50.6 billion in dividends and share repurchases, equal to 9.3% of their $542.9 billion in operating cash flow. The payout share was 27.4% in the comparable 2025 period and was the lowest in at least 15 years. A smaller share of each operating cash dollar went to immediate shareholder returns, even as operating cash increased. Operating cash flow reached a group record, up 29% from a year earlier.
