The Federal Reserve is expected to keep US interest rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00% on October 28, 2026 , but the pause may be temporary. Persistent inflation, resilient economic activity and expectations of another increase in December have shifted the monetary policy debate away from rate cuts. In a Reuters poll conducted October 16–20 , 94 of 100 economists expected the Fed to hold rates at its October meeting. All 100 respondents anticipated an increase in December. The October decision is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, followed by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference at 2:30 p.m.
