FBI Weighs Additional Economic Espionage Charge Against Former OpenAI Engineer

The FBI is weighing an additional economic espionage charge against former OpenAI engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan as investigators examine whether he stole information for transfer to the Saudi government. Investigators are examining whether Alfozan intended to provide OpenAI information to the Saudi government, although he was not employed by the government. Federal prosecutors have accused Alfozan of installing a recording device in an OpenAI executive conference room. He faces a charge involving the interception of oral communications and remains in pretrial detention after a judge ordered him held .
