Austin Griffith, a developer associated with the Ethereum Foundation, conducted an experiment by depositing approximately $1 worth of ETH into an Ethereum wallet secured with the private key set to the number 6969. Shortly after the funds arrived, automated bots began targeting the wallet, attempting to drain its contents almost immediately. Griffith discussed the results on the “Uneasy Money” segment of the Unchained podcast, which he co-hosts. On-chain data confirmed that 0.0004 ETH, equivalent to about $1, was sent to the address corresponding to the key 6969 at 20:35 UTC on October 21.
