ENS Labs has proposed to the ENS DAO that ENSv2 be activated on the Ethereum mainnet, a significant upgrade that would freeze all new .eth registrations on the original v1 registrar and redirect registrations to the new system. ENS, or Ethereum Name Service, enables users to register human-readable addresses for use on the Ethereum blockchain. ENS founder Nick Johnson, who posts under the nickname nick.eth, submitted the executable proposal on the ENS governance forum on October 11. The plan consolidates 15 separate transactions from the DAO timelock into a single atomic transaction.
