CostDepth introduces a free calculator for comparing trading expenses across 17 cryptocurrency exchanges. Observed spot and futures calculations reveal how transaction costs change with trading strategy. Liquidity, execution methods and holding periods can make advertised exchange fees misleading. A cryptocurrency exchange offering lower commissions does not necessarily provide cheaper trading. The final cost depends on how an order interacts with available liquidity and, for perpetual futures, how long the position remains open. CostDepth launched a free cryptocurrency trading-cost calculator on November 7, combining exchange fee schedules with order-book data to estimate expenses across 17 trading platforms.
