Core Scientific’s active Bitcoin (BTC) mining fleet has dropped by nearly half since the end of 2025 ahead of its planned Q4 2026 shutdown and exit from self-mining. The company plans to finish the exit during Q4 2026, then begin 2027 as a high-performance computing (HPC) hosting provider. That would end its self-operated Bitcoin mining and make hosting its stated operating model. Hosting generated $215 million in third-quarter revenue, nearly 60% above the previous quarter, while EBITDA margin reached 57%. Those results show the scale of the business Core Scientific is emphasizing as its active mining fleet contracts.
