Core Scientific plans to end its own Bitcoin (BTC) mining by Dec. 31, 2026, and shift toward hosting computing workloads for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC). From 2027, the Nasdaq-listed company plans to focus on high-density hosting for those workloads. It is also gradually ending mining-hosting services for third parties, expanding the transition beyond its own mining operations. The shift covers two parts of the business: self-mining, where the company mines BTC itself, and hosting for outside mining customers. Its own production is set to stop by the close of 2026, while third-party hosting is being phased out gradually.
