Coinbase to Halt GYEN Transfers and Convert Balances to USDC

Coinbase will halt all transfers of GYEN, the yen-denominated stablecoin, on October 26, 2026, and subsequently convert any remaining user balances into USD Coin (USDC) at prevailing market rates, according to the exchange’s published notice, marking a full operational wind-down of the asset on one of the largest U.S.-regulated crypto platforms. The Coinbase announcement targets GYEN transfers specifically, meaning users who intend to move GYEN off the platform, to an external wallet, or between Coinbase accounts must complete those actions before the October 26 deadline.
