Coinbase’s AI-agent access to crypto derivatives predates Oct. 21: the company described crypto and derivatives features as already available by Sept. 22, and agents’ perpetual-contract trading had been covered by Oct. 19. Coinbase’s Sept. 22 announcement identified stock trading and micropayments as additions for agents. It placed them alongside crypto and derivatives functions that were already available, rather than presenting derivatives access as a new launch. The timing makes the distinction important: the announcement broadened agents’ uses but did not mark the start of derivatives access.
