Chipotle Mexican Grill plans to release third-quarter results Wednesday, Oct. 28, giving a fresh measure of whether customer transactions sustained growth after comparable restaurant sales rose 2.2% in Q2. Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 increased 9.3% from a year earlier to $3,348.6 million. New restaurant openings accounted for most of the increase, while comparable sales rose 2.2%. Transactions at comparable restaurants climbed 1%, and the average check increased 1.2%. Chipotle’s second-quarter sales and transaction results provide the latest benchmark ahead of the report. Chipotle anticipated about 1% comparable-sales growth in Q3 if an approximately 200-basis-point impact continued.
