Chainlink CCIP Supports Token Transfers and Cross-Chain Messages

Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) moves messages and digital assets between blockchains, giving asset issuers and developers a way to send information alongside token transfers. The protocol supports messages, token transfers and programmable transfers that pair tokens with instructions. Those are distinct capabilities: a message can carry information across networks, while a token transfer moves a digital asset. A programmable transfer combines the two. More than $15 billion in token value migrated to CCIP in 2026 as issuers and protocols replaced legacy cross-chain providers. That migration figure measures the value of tokens moved onto CCIP.
