Bridgewater China Sees Value in Mainland Stocks, Expands Manager Role

Bridgewater Associates’ China subsidiary sees value in mainland stocks and plans to give portfolio managers more discretion over allocations as part of a broader shift toward active management. In a September letter to investors, Bridgewater China described Chinese stock valuations as attractive. The firm expects policy direction to support long-term capital formation, while relatively low bond yields may encourage some investors to move money into equities. Its stance does not amount to a broad bullish call on the market.
