Brazil confirmed Newcastle disease at a commercial turkey farm in Santa Catarina on Oct. 18, prompting containment measures and a review of poultry trade rules with China. The farm is in Nova Itaberaba, and Brazil disclosed the case publicly on Oct. 19. It held about 6,000 turkeys, which remained on the property and were not intended for meat production. Tyson Foods (TSN) closed Oct. 19 at $54.00, down 1.64%, while JBS N.V. (JBS) finished at $12.90, down about 1%. Both prices were recorded at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC). The declines alone do not establish a connection to the outbreak.
