The Bank of Japan (BOJ) kept further rate increases in view in September, a policy path relevant to yen-funded trades across global markets, including crypto. The bank said it would continue raising rates if its outlook for economic activity and prices is realized. It listed exchange-rate movements, AI-related demand and Middle East conditions as factors in setting the timing and pace of increases. The BOJ raised its policy rate to 1.25% in September, the highest in 31 years. The yen carry trade uses low-cost yen borrowing to finance investments with higher returns.
