BMW plans to bring the 2027 X5 to U.S. buyers in three powertrain versions, with the mild-hybrid X5 40 xDrive scheduled for October 2026 and the plug-in hybrid X5 50e xDrive and all-electric iX5 60 xDrive scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. BMW announced the fifth-generation X5 on June 30. A charging demonstration announced by BMW, IONNA and Alpitronic on Oct. 20 highlighted the iX5 60 xDrive’s charging capability. Its stated maximum charging power is up to 460 kilowatts; that is the vehicle’s specified maximum, not a measured peak from the demonstration.
