Onchain analyst Willy Woo stirred fresh debate over Bitcoin’s long-term security on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, after sharing artificial intelligence (AI)-generated estimates suggesting a 1.3% probability that Bitcoin’s digital signatures could be broken within two years. Drawing inspiration from Woo’s X post, Bitcoin.com News expanded the experiment, consulting approximately four AI models and examining potential cryptographic threats across four distinct time horizons. Willy Woo’s post referenced estimates attributed to Opus 5.5, which assigned a 0.5% probability to quantum computing breaking Bitcoin’s signatures within two years and a 0.8% probability to classical mathematics or AI achieving the same outcome.
