Bitcoin Futures Open Interest Builds on Both Sides Since Oct. 14

Market analyst Murphy said Bitcoin (BTC) perpetual futures open interest has continued to build since Oct. 14, with positions accumulating on both sides and Saturday’s decline failing to trigger deleveraging. Murphy assessed that the move may have reflected pressure from assets already deposited on trading platforms during thin weekend liquidity. He also said entity-based realized losses on Bitcoin fell rather than rose. Open interest measures outstanding contracts. It continued to accumulate during pullbacks, and Saturday’s decline did not reduce it. The buildup spans both long and short positions.
