The Binance hack has sharpened concerns over customer fund protection and cybersecurity across cryptocurrency markets. Blockchain’s longer-term growth also depends on broader uses in tokenization and payments, beyond expectations of rising asset prices. In an interview with Yahoo Finance on October 30, Owen Lau, managing director and senior analyst at ClearStreet, described the reported $6.3 billion Binance theft as the largest hack in crypto history. He said stronger cybersecurity and protection of customer funds were essential to investor confidence.
