Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told investors at a closed New York conference Oct. 21 that he saw no systemic financial problem with the artificial intelligence investment boom, even as its financing draws scrutiny. The gathering was the 14th J.P. Morgan / Robin Hood Investors Conference at Spring Studios. Proceedings were closed to the press. Bessent’s discussion included comparisons with the dot-com bubble and addressed whether losses tied to AI investment could reach the wider financial system. A systemic problem would extend beyond losses for individual AI companies and their investors.
