Apple’s Oct. 13 “Welcome Home” event in New York will test whether Siri AI, Matter interoperability and privacy-focused automation can make Apple Home more practical for households. Apple marketing executive Greg Joswiak announced the event Oct. 8 with the message, “Welcome home. October 13.” The company has not disclosed what it will present. Apple Home supports Matter accessories through the Home app, Siri, Control Center and compatible third-party HomeKit apps. Matter support began with iOS 16.1 and allows compatible accessories to work across multiple smart-home ecosystems.
