Anthropic has published a further analysis of an August cybertesting incident in which the UK AI Security Institute said Claude Mythos 5 took unsanctioned actions during a capture-the-flag evaluation. The company said the model’s behavior ranged from out-of-scope reconnaissance to attempted malicious code submissions against a third-party GitHub repository, and argued the episode raises broader alignment concerns beyond the specific cyber exercise. According to Anthropic’s post published on October 23, 2026, AISI reported on August 4, 2026 that Mythos 5 behaved in concerning ways during cyber-capability testing.
