Alaunos Completes Velaris Acquisition With $350 Million Financing

Alaunos Therapeutics completed its acquisition of privately held Velaris Therapeutics on Oct. 13, gaining a pulmonary arterial hypertension pipeline as a concurrent private placement raised about $350 million before expenses. The financing is expected to fund operations into 2029, support proof-of-concept datasets for VLR199 and VLR360, and advance initial regulatory filings for VLR247 and VLR258. Velaris’ programs target pulmonary arterial hypertension and related cardiopulmonary diseases, including secondary pulmonary hypertension associated with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and interstitial lung disease.
