REA, an open-source toolkit for connecting coding agents with reverse-engineering tools, surpassed 100,000 GitHub stars during the week ending Oct. 12, 2026. The project, whose name stands for “Reverse Engineer Anything,” uses the Model Context Protocol to link coding agents with tools that examine native binaries, JavaScript and Electron applications, .NET assemblies and websites. It returns findings with evidence and stated limitations. REA can help an agent study how software behaves, explain those findings or develop a compatible implementation. The process does not recover the original source code.
