71% of Americans Doubt Trump Will Deliver $5,000 Dividend Checks: Poll

Most Americans don't expect to ever see the $5,000 payment the president is promising if Republicans keep control of Congress in next month's midterms. A new NBC News Decision Desk poll conducted with SurveyMonkey finds 71% of respondents think they won't get the money. That includes 42% who say they "definitely" won't receive the check and 29% who say they "probably" won't. Only 14% say they expect to get paid. President Trump floated the idea at the Republican Party's midterm convention in Dallas, pledging to give every American adult $5,000 if the GOP holds both the House and the Senate.
