New York sports betting handle continues to grow despite claims from the regulated gambling industry that sports prediction markets are siphoning away business. The New York State Gaming Commission reports that sports bettors wagered more than $2.4 billion in September. That represents a 5% increase over September 2025—an uptick of nearly $114 million in handle. Through September, overall 2026 sports betting volume is up 3.7% year over year, with players placing roughly $697 million more in wagers than during the same period in 2025. Growth is even more pronounced across the state’s 2026–27 fiscal year.
