Four people have been jailed and are currently pending trial in Turkey over an alleged sports betting fraud in which a data analyst delayed live match updates by seven seconds. This allowed associates to place bets after the outcome of a point was already known. Prosecutors claim that the unusual scheme triggered losses of around 12 million TRY ($240,000) to sports data provider Spordata and the licensed sportsbooks that relied on its services. The scheme allegedly targeted tennis and volleyball matches, among others. According to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, authorities detained eight suspects during raids on October 23.
