Zoom Acquires Onyx to Add Enterprise Search to Its AI Platform

Zoom announced Oct. 23 that it acquired Onyx, adding an enterprise search and knowledge management platform to its AI services as the company builds tools that connect work conversations with company information. Onyx was founded in 2023 and connects to more than 50 enterprise applications. It will continue as a standalone, open-source platform that is model-agnostic, app-agnostic and self-hostable. The deal’s financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition follows Zoom’s Oct. 20 introduction of its Unified Context Layer , designed to link conversations from meetings, phone calls, chats and contact center interactions with company documents and information from connected apps.
