Zcash set to triple block speed in NU7 upgrade, ZEC futures open interest rises

The Zcash Foundation has announced that Network Upgrade 7 (NU7) will activate at block 3,543,405, expected to occur around November 5. This marks a key step forward for Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency launched in 2016, as it undertakes one of its most significant technical upgrades in recent years. NU7 aims to significantly accelerate the network by reducing the target block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. This change allows transactions to be confirmed faster, improving the overall user experience while maintaining the current daily issuance of ZEC, the network’s native token.
