Zcash NU7 Would Set Aside 60% of Fees as Mainnet Decision Nears

Zcash developers are due to review the NU7 testnet run Oct. 20 and decide whether to activate the upgrade on mainnet, a move that would change confirmation timing and the use of transaction fees. The public testnet activation occurred Oct. 4 at block 4,465,026, ahead of the original Oct. 6 schedule. Developers plan to use the test results to make the mainnet decision and select an activation block height. NU7 would reduce the target interval between blocks to 25 seconds from 75 seconds. That would shorten the expected wait for a first confirmation, although actual block times can vary.
