XRP’s $4.1 Billion Market Cap Gain Does Not Measure New Money

XRP’s market capitalization rose about $4.1 billion over 24 hours into early U.S. trading Oct. 21, a change in calculated value that does not establish whether that much new money entered the market. Market capitalization is calculated by multiplying an asset’s price by its circulating supply. The figure can rise as the price increases without an equivalent amount of new investment entering the market. The rolling 24-hour snapshot put XRP’s market capitalization at roughly $85.7 billion. A separate series of UTC calendar-day closes showed the market cap at $84.23 billion on Oct. 21, up from $82.26 billion a day earlier.
