XRP Ledger Skipped Its Own Validator Vote to Patch a Critical Bug

RippleX changed XRP Ledger transaction rules without the standard validator vote. The emergency fix closed a flaw that could have created XRP out of nothing. Validators received compiled software before the source code was public. The XRPL disclosure reports no evidence that anyone exploited the bug on a public network. For the first time in more than ten years, XRP Ledger developers and validators changed how the network processes transactions without putting the change to a validator vote.
