The White House is reportedly exploring whether federal funding inflows could be directed toward expanding the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, a policy vehicle established by executive order in March 2025 that currently holds Bitcoin seized through federal law enforcement and asset forfeiture proceedings rather than open-market acquisitions. The U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve was formally created under a March 2025 presidential action that directed the federal government to treat its existing Bitcoin holdings as a long-term strategic asset rather than liquidating them, as had been prior practice.
