Teku and Besu have updated their Docker images after weak certificate keys created a risk for software connecting to external services, including some Ethereum validator setups. The immediate question for operators is whether their software could accept a fake certificate when connecting to another service. The answer depends on the connections and Java installation they use, which is why the client updates do not mean every validator faced the same risk. Ethereum client teams have released updates to address a certificate problem that began outside the blockchain. The changes concern how software decides whether a remote service is genuine.
