Vitalik Buterin Details a 100-Day Airplane Mode Phone Experiment

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin outlined changes to his social media and phone use on Oct. 31, arguing that simpler tools and local AI can give people more control over their digital lives. Buterin has posted mainly through Firefly this year. The app lets him continue using X while also reaching Bluesky, Farcaster and Lens. He began using it to support decentralized social networks without leaving conversations on X. Firefly lacks X’s recommendation algorithm, which Buterin suspects helps explain why he prefers the experience.
