Wireless carrier Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) and telecom vendor Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) have completed what they cite as the world’s first outdoor pre-standard 6G field call in the 7 GHz spectrum band. The milestone was officially announced on October 15. The test took place at a Verizon commercial network site in Concord, California, taking early-stage 6G proof-of-concept technology out of controlled laboratory environments and placing it into real-world radio frequency conditions.
