Variational becomes largest on-chain venue for RWA derivatives

The Arbitrum-based protocol passed TradeXYZ on volume after its September swaps launch tapped liquidity from traditional finance dealers Variational is now the biggest on-chain venue for real-world asset derivatives by trading volume. The Arbitrum -based protocol announced the milestone on October 14, 2026, overtaking TradeXYZ, which had held the top spot for over a year. Real-world asset (RWA) derivatives are contracts that track things like gold, silver, and stock indices, but trade on a blockchain instead of a traditional exchange.
