Vice President JD Vance sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, Iran’s security chief, seeking to restart negotiations as President Donald Trump considers possible strikes after the Nov. 3 midterms. Rezaei is secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and a former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander. A separate U.S. official said negotiations intended to avert military action would “require discussions on the nuclear issue.” Trump described Vance’s outreach as help getting medical supplies into Iran. “Basically, it’s getting supplies in to help people that are not well,” he told reporters Wednesday.
