The United States and Iran have not announced an agreement to end the war, despite a reported Qatar-Pakistan compromise proposal that has drawn positive responses from both sides. The proposal is intended to prevent renewed fighting and bring Washington and Tehran back to negotiations. Under its reported terms, Iran would permit an unannounced visit by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to nuclear sites, while the U.S. would allow Iran to receive interest generated by $6 billion in frozen funds held in Qatar.
