U.S. and international authorities seized Virtualine.net in a cybercrime probe, targeting a hosting service that prosecutors allege accepted Bitcoin (BTC) payments and laundered proceeds from criminal customers. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and the FBI Washington Field Office announced the seizure on Oct. 27. The operation involved Germany’s Polizei Hessen, the Netherlands’ Politie Midden-Nederland and the U.K.’s National Crime Agency. Prosecutors allege Virtualine, which also used the names Secury, Massgod, Spamhouse, Lanedo and Omegatech, supplied hosting for criminal customers.
