The United States is reinforcing forces near Iran ahead of a possible resumption of strikes after the Nov. 3 midterm elections, raising risks for oil and broader markets. President Trump has repeatedly suggested U.S. forces could resume attacks after the vote. A third carrier strike group and an additional 10,000 sailors and Marines have been sent toward the Persian Gulf, giving commanders more military options. The timing remains uncertain. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made an unannounced visit to Israel this week and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel holds an election Tuesday, Oct. 27, days before the U.S. midterms.
