U.S. 10-Year Treasury Yield Posts First Daily Reading Below 5% Since Sept. 22

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield fell to 4.96% in its Thursday daily reading, its first daily reading below 5% since Sept. 22, as technology shares slid and demand for government bonds rose. The daily par yield fell 17 basis points, to 4.96% from 5.13% on Oct. 21. It uses indicative bid-side quotations collected near 3:30 p.m. ET (19:30 UTC) and is interpolated, so the figure does not represent the yield on one specific 10-year note. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.6% Thursday, and the S&P 500 lost 1.2% as investors weighed the returns on heavy artificial intelligence investment.
