President Donald Trump changed the list of Canadian goods subject to a 50% duty under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, removing 22 classifications and adding 97 ahead of a Maine Senate election. Trump signed the revision Oct. 23. The new terms apply to goods entered for consumption or withdrawn from a warehouse for consumption starting at 12:01 a.m. ET Friday, Oct. 30 (04:01 UTC). Covered products continue to face a 50% additional duty, so the revision changes which goods are included rather than the rate.
