President Trump announced an immediate energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine on Sunday, saying the two sides had agreed not to destroy energy infrastructure in a move with potential implications for global markets. Trump said the arrangement took effect immediately. The arrangement concerns attacks on energy infrastructure while the Russia-Ukraine war remains unresolved. The announcement was made at 14:19 UTC on Oct. 11 (10:19 a.m. ET). Energy prices and broader risk sentiment may respond to developments affecting the security of oil, gas and power infrastructure, while crypto markets remain sensitive to shifts in geopolitical risk.
