President Donald Trump’s administration announced $8 billion in one-time aid for U.S. farmers to help cover projected 2026 crop losses, while the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) separately unveiled fraud-tip rewards. The farm-aid plan, announced Oct. 19, will use a uniform payment formula tied to a national modeled loss average. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will calculate that average using planted acreage, production costs, and projected yields and prices. USDA has not announced the application period. The planned aid follows $12 billion in one-time payments delivered to more than 560,000 farmers earlier this year.
