The deadline for public comments on the Treasury Department’s GENIUS Act NPRM is October 19, 2026. There is no extension. Any filer banking on a November 4 deadline is misreading a historical footnote as a live regulatory order. The confusion stems from a structural quirk in how federal dockets are archived. Treasury’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) includes a footnote – number 16 on page 6 – that provides context on the previous stage of this rulemaking. It reads: “See 90 FR 45159 (Sep. 19, 2025).
