Study Finds No Clear Gains From Test-Time Training in Robot Demonstrations

Researchers testing two robot AI models found that test-time training (TTT) did not consistently make them follow human demonstrations, limiting evidence for the memory method at the scale tested. Qiangong Zhou, Jiafeng Liang, Yimin Dong, Yang He and Hongxiang Li tested TTT in InternVLA-A1 and Pi0.5 in a study submitted Oct. 23, 2026. The study paired human demonstrations with robot trajectories to test whether models could use earlier information. TTT stores contextual information in fast weights, and the study tested whether that could help models use earlier information.
