STMicroelectronics introduced four automotive safety sensors on Oct. 26 that were already in production, combining two types of motion measurement for crash protection, vehicle stability and driver-assistance systems. The NCS1012BAEP, NCS1012CAEP, NCS1012EAEP and NCS10135AEP each measure acceleration and angular rate in one package. Their intended uses include crash and rollover detection, airbag deployment, vehicle stability control and radar-beam stabilization. STMicroelectronics described the lineup as its first mass-market sensor launch since completing its acquisition of NXP Semiconductors’ automotive and industrial MEMS sensor business on Feb. 2.
