The Starknet (STRK) token rose 54.87% in 24 hours at 2 a.m. ET (06:00 UTC) Sunday as the Ethereum Layer 2 considered becoming an independent Layer 1 blockchain, a move that could give it more control over security upgrades. The token’s gain later moved higher as prices continued to change, while Bitcoin remained nearly flat. Starknet is targeting 2027 to become the first fully quantum-resistant network. Starknet currently operates as an Ethereum Layer 2 validity rollup. Its STARK proof system uses hash functions, but its Ethereum bridge and data-availability layers still depend on Ethereum.
