More than 50 million tracks classified as slop or spam have been removed from Spotify’s recommendations so far in 2026, following changes designed to give human artists more visibility. The figure measures tracks kept out of recommendations, not tracks necessarily deleted from Spotify. It combines slop and spam classifications and does not establish how many of the tracks were AI-generated. Over the past six months, Spotify has adjusted its recommendation system using signals including listener behavior and feedback, upload patterns, track information and third-party AI detection tools.
